How long is the dovetail registration valid?
It is valid for one year. We hope you will stay in touch with us during the course of the year to let us know how you are getting on, but we will contact you towards the end of your registration period to see how things have developed for you and whether you wish to extend your registration.

This is the first time we’ve appointed a leader and we’re not sure how to proceed. Can you advise us?
The ‘guidelines for churches’ is there to help you with some of the initial thinking, but if you need further advice we’d be very happy to advise you and if we can’t help you we may well know of someone who can. Please don’t hesitate to ask.

Does all the information I give to you appear on the website?
Almost all of the information does, except we ask you to indicate what contact details you want to appear (ie do you want people to contact you by phone, email etc). If you think it would be helpful for us to hold additional information about the vacancy, please feel free to email that to us at dovetail@claybury.com

Do I need to answer all the questions?
We would encourage you to think about what you want to say (see the ‘guidelines for churches’ paper) and then give as much information as possible. This your ‘shop window’ and will lay the foundations for future discussions.

Can I edit the information once it appears on the website?
You can access the information while it is in draft form, but once it has been agreed with the Claybury office and appears on the website you can only make changes by contacting the office at dovetail@claybury.com

Do I need to fill in all the fields?
Yes you do. It is important for leaders to have as clear a picture as possible of the vacancy and the terms on which it is being offered. There are guidelines available which will help you think through some of the issues if you haven’t already done so. Certain fields are compulsory and these are marked with an *.

What happens next?
Once your registration is complete and your details appear on our website you can make contact with individuals who register with us. More will register as the year progresses and you will need to check the website at regular intervals. We’d also like you to keep us informed of your progress as we feel part of our role is to be supportive and prayerful as people work their way through the process. You can always contact us on dovetail@claybury.com

Can I copy the profiles for others in the selection group?
You may download any profiles that are of interest to you but we would ask you to respect the confidential nature of the information these forms contain and not share the information with people not involved in selecting a new leader.

What if nothing works out?
If you get ‘stuck’ at any point, or find that things are not working out in the way you had hoped, please feel free to contact us and we will see whether there are other ways in which we can help you.
